I guide sheep hunts for an outfitter in the Brooks Range. My outfitter has a Federal Concession, meaning we are the only operation permitted to guide hunting operations in the area.
I also spent 1 season in the Chugach, which as a nonresident, requires you to apply and draw a tag to hunt sheep.
In the Brooks, when you sign on with an outfitter for a guided hunt, your sheep tag is included as part of the hunt package. Most Brooks Range Sheep Outfitters are booked out 1 to 3 years. So if you have dreams of hunting sheep in Alaska it’s never too early to begin researching.
Chugach sheep tags are acquired through a draw system. Non residents must put in to the draw through an outfitter and sign a document agreeing to hunt with said outfitter upon drawing a tag.
In both the Brooks and Chugach, hunts are 10-12 days in duration, on-foot, backpack style. These are tough hunts, both physically and mentally demanding, testing you to your core.
That said, there is no finer trophy in North America than the great Dall Sheep, and to harvest a ram is worth every bit effort that is put forth. Hunter’s may also have the opportunity to harvest grizzly, caribou, and wolf on a trophy fee basis.

Alaska Hunting
Dall’s Sheep
I guide moose hunts on the Alaska Peninsula. My outfitter has a Federal Concession for the area. Hunts are 10 days in duration and non-resident moose permits can be purchased otc. In raft and on foot, these hunts typically find us in and around the waterways and soggy tundra, where the moose travel. Wader pants and wading boots are HIGHLY recommended. We strike out daily from a comfortable base camp comprised of larger cabela’s tents, cots, and heaters if necessary. We eat well in moose camp. We hunt around the rut, calling to bulls in hopes of eliciting reactions and drawing them in. Our success rate with moose is quite high.
